Water Quality

Watermills provides alternative wholesome water supply, emergency water supply and associated water supply consultancy services.

Water Quality Assurance

All drinking water provided by Watermills is wholesome and suitable for drinking as defined by Regulation 4 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2010 and is fit for human consumption as soon as we extract it from our WRAS approved equipped; tankers, bowsers, tanks and pipework.

Our experienced quality assurance team deliver Water Safety Plans to ensure the water delivered to your premises is wholesome, audited and compliant with the relevant Drinking Water Regulations.

Quality Management Systems are developed to ensure the operational history of each water storage vessel and readily trace the source of water supplied on any occasion to any site.

In order to assess the risks associated with individual sites, in terms of water contamination and water supply, a Water Safety Plan is required. Water Safety Plans are individually tailored risk assessments which identify areas of potential water contamination within a temporary water installation. Its main objectives are to minimise, remove and prevent contamination of the water supply. Controls are introduced to monitor these areas to ensure a wholesome water supply is not only delivered but maintained throughout the installation period.

Regulations BS8551:2015

Watermills is proud to have been a member of the panel that, on behalf of BSI’s committee EH/3 Water Quality, developed BS8551, industry guidelines explaining the processes and procedures which should be adopted to ensure a wholesome water supply for temporary installations and how to demonstrate due diligence in maintaining compliance with Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000 and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.

The standard provides guidelines on the following points when using temporary water supplies:

Preparation and use of temporary water transfer vessels
Water abstraction

Transfer of potable water to point of use

Events are increasingly seeking suppliers who conform to BS8551 and to help organisations conform to BS8551. Watermills offers personalised Water Safety Plans.

Water Safety Plans

In any event we want to ensure that there is an uninterrupted supply of assured quality water, minimising any chance of outages or low pressure. A Water Safety Plan is a detailed document that is recommended for all events and operations that rely on wholesome drinking water facilities.

The plan includes contingencies, risk assessments, sampling and monitoring logs, site overviews and other information which is all needed for a successful project.

This plan gives you the peace of mind that every aspect of the water supply has been taken into consideration when creating your bespoke infrastructure and water delivery. Liaising with the water authorities to ensure high pressure if fed off a main supply or no chance of contamination when installing temporary services.
