Water Supply For Construction Sites, Festivals, Events and Emergencies UK - Project appraisal - Taylor Woodrow Developments Ltd
In June 2006 saw Taylor Woodrow Developments Ltd start a large housing development at Dowds Farm, near Southampton.
A greenfield site, there was initially no power or water available for welfare or construction purposes. Hiring a generator to provide site power is a regular occurrence, but finding a potable water supply proved more challenging. Taylor Woodrow approached Watermills to provide a surrogate potable mains water supply to the welfare cabins and on-site mortar batcher.
Watermills initially installed 3 x 1200 litres static water storage tanks and an electric demand pump to supply the cabins and batcher, together with the necessary plumbing connections; as the site staffing levels have increased, the water storage capacity has been increased as well.
Regular replenishments of fresh drinking water by Watermills' dedicated water tankers throughout the week have kept the site fully operational and in compliance with the necessary regulations.
